of Numeracy Co-Ordinator
To ensure the progress of all children in the area of Mathematics & Numeracy, irrespective of academic ability.
In addition to a full-time teaching commitment, this will be a curriculum coordinating role which will involve being a member of the Learning and Teaching Team and the Assessment Team.
The coordinator’s duties will embrace a wide range of responsibilities which will include:
RESPONSIBILITIES
·Lead and manage an effective mathematics team who will have delegated responsibilities
·Strategic direction and development of Mathematics & Numeracy throughout the school and its overall management of the subject with the Principal.
·Support the creation and implementation of the School Development Plan, especially as it relates to mathematics and to take responsibility for appropriately delegated aspects of it.
·Review annually, the current Policy and Scheme of Work in relation to the requirements of the NI Curriculum and the needs of the school.
·Assist the Principal in co-ordinating school evaluation and development, including planning, target setting and monitoring the quality of provision of Mathematics & Numeracy within the school.
·Write an annual action plan with targets that meet the priorities of the School Development Plan.
·Evaluate the action plan annually and adapt the SDP accordingly for the next year.
·Make an annual presentation to the Board of Governors on the progress of Mathematics in the school.
·Maintain an overview of the Mathematics & Numeracy curriculum throughout the school through discussions with colleagues, attendance at meetings and informal contacts.
·Have access to the planning completed by all members of staff and to review this regularly to ensure there is progression and continuity in planning, teaching assessment and evaluation of Mathematics & Numeracy throughout the school.
·Support the Principal in the monitoring of the quality of teaching and learning in mathematics, including the analysis of performance& assessment data.
·Provide appropriate training, advice and guidance to relevant members of staff to support the development of mathematics throughout the school. This can be carried out informally at mutually arranged times and formally on staff development days and other times agreed.
·Liaise with the SENCO on issues relating to Special Needs and Mathematics.
·Assist newly qualified and newly appointed staff as required.
·Maintain the list of resources and equipment for Numeracy annually and to ensure this is available to members of staff.
·Advise the Principal of future budget requirements to maintain and develop the resourcing of Mathematics.
·Remain informed of local and national issues and keep abreast of current developments in the subject.
·Undertaking such other duties as the Principal may reasonably require.
