We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Torquay. This exciting role is ideal for a candidate with a diverse skill set in both analogue and digital domains, with expertise spanning hardware and firmware design for embedded (ARM-based) microprocessor systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design & Development: Lead the design and development of advanced photonic and fibre-optic technologies, delivering innovative solutions.
* Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with mechanical and electronic design engineers to create products that redefine optical technology.
* Prototype Assembly & Testing: Engage directly in the hands-on assembly and rigorous testing of prototypes to ensure performance and reliability.
* Customer Engagement: Present design results and technical insights clearly and effectively to internal teams and external customers.
Requirements:
* Education: A degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required. A PhD in a relevant discipline is highly advantageous.
* Expertise: Strong foundation in fibre-optics, photonics, and related technologies. Experience with high-power fibre lasers/amplifiers, non-linear optics, photonic integrated circuits, or acousto-optics is highly desirable.
* Independence: A proactive self-starter who can drive projects, resolve complex issues, and deliver results independently.
* Additional Skills: Experience in designing fibre-optic and free-space transmission systems (analogue, digital, coherent) is a plus. Proficiency in generating proposals and managing financial and technical aspects of development projects is also advantageous.
