Here at Rainbows Children's Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, we're here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are.
Job responsibilities
Location: Onsite at Rainbows Hospice, Loughborough
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
As a Senior IT Technician, you will be responsible for providing advanced first and second-line technical support and resolving a wide range of IT issues. From maintaining hardware and software to ensuring reliable network and Wi-Fi connectivity, your expertise will keep our systems running smoothly. You will also provide support for audio-visual equipment and gaming setups used across the organisation.
Some of the key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
1. Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
2. Troubleshoot and resolve network and Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
3. Maintain and support audio-visual equipment for meetings, events, and presentations.
4. Perform regular system maintenance, including updates, installations, and configuration changes.
5. Assist in the deployment and implementation of new IT solutions, as well as upgrades to existing systems.
6. Maintain accurate documentation of IT processes and solutions.
7. Collaborate with external suppliers to ensure the best value and performance from IT services.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and experienced IT professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can think creatively to solve technical challenges. You should be able to provide clear communication to colleagues and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
Essential Requirements:
* Significant experience in 2nd line support for desktop, mobile, and network IT services.
* Strong technical expertise in troubleshooting PC hardware, operating systems, and application software.
* Proven ability to configure, deliver, and install IT equipment, including PCs, monitors, printers, and peripherals.
* In-depth knowledge of Microsoft platforms, including SharePoint, Teams Voice, and portal administration.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* A methodical and proactive approach to problem-solving.
Desirable Skills:
* Familiarity with IT systems used in healthcare or charity organizations.
* Experience managing IT-related compliance and data security.

Experience
* Significant demonstrable experience in 2nd line support for desktop, mobile, and network IT services.
* Strong foundation in computer science and technology.
* Extensive experience of troubleshooting PC hardware, operating systems, and applications software including configuration, delivery, and installation of PCs, monitors, terminals, printers, and peripherals.
* In-depth knowledge of all Microsoft packages including SharePoint, Teams Voice, and Portal administration.
* In-depth knowledge of Windows desktop computers.
* Proven work experience in IT support or IT technician roles.
* Experience of working to deadlines and with changing priorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
