Job Title: Family Practitioner (G7)

Working Hours: 08:30 – 17:00 (20 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £15.08 per hour
Job Purpose:
The Family Practitioner will provide family support services to children and families in the Staffordshire area, aligning with a specific district or locality. The role involves working closely with families to improve their well-being and providing key interventions to support children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on early help assessments and develop action plans to support families.
Provide direct work and interventions with children, young people, and families.
Work collaboratively with social workers to support children in need, those on child protection plans, and children in care.
Maintain accurate and detailed records, reports, and documentation relating to the work undertaken.
Use a restorative practice approach to support families and help them stay together where possible.
Facilitate and lead accredited and evidence-based parenting programmes.
Undertake assessments and make appropriate decisions in line with professional accountability.
Build relationships and deliver interventions to children, families, and carers.
Work effectively in conflict situations.
Requirements:
Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification.
Experience:
Direct work with children, families, and carers in statutory or voluntary agencies providing services to vulnerable children and families.
Experience using IT, including Microsoft Office packages.
Knowledge & Skills:
Understanding of child development and the effects of stress and trauma.
Knowledge of mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, poverty, and other vulnerabilities affecting families.
Awareness of partner agencies and their roles in supporting families.
Understanding of key policies, guidance, and legislation governing children’s social care.
Ability to effectively communicate with children, families, and carers.
Proficiency in IT systems and the ability to produce high-standard written records.
Commitment to using restorative approaches in work with children and families.
Essential car user – ability to travel as required.
