Position: Project Director/Programme Manager
Location: East Sussex/Kent
Salary Guide: £85,000 - £95,000 Plus Bonus, Car/Allowance and Excellent Package
Our client is a Tier 1 D&B Contractor operating predominately in the water industry, delivering a number of water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects for Southern Water.
They are recruiting for a Programme Manager/Project Director to oversee, lead, and support a program of work including Construction and Delivery Leads and Site Managers, to support the design phase and manage the construction and commissioning phases. This includes setting up contracts and ensuring they are completed efficiently, to specification, within the required time, and within the tender estimate, while maintaining health and safety standards and ensuring good customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the overall performance of the projects including contract staffing, supporting the hand-over from design phase to project delivery, and setting overall contract strategy.
2. Have detailed working knowledge and experience of project management practices from scheme conception through to end user acceptance.
3. Responsible for overall health & safety and reporting to the monthly project management meeting.
4. Offer support, advice, and guidance to the Construction and Delivery Leads on all aspects of the contract, and assist with problem-solving as required.
5. Responsible for staff training and development.
6. Maintain Client relations, resolve Client-related problems, and develop opportunities for further business.
7. Promote exceptional safety and delivery quality standards to direct and subcontracted workforce.
8. Maintain the Company's reputation on a project by ensuring good relationships with joint venture partners and suppliers.
9. Ensure, in conjunction with the Design Manager, that an adequate Technical, Safety, and Environmental review is carried out for each project to ensure successful delivery.
10. Ensure that sufficient trained personnel are available for the project and that they are aware of their individual responsibilities.
11. Ensure that the respective Construction and Delivery Leads/Site Managers are carrying out appropriate reviews and approvals of all MS/RA and Construction delivery plans to support H&S requirements.
12. Ensure works procedures are produced to assist with control quality where applicable.
13. Ensure that all site non-conformities are reported and approximate costs identified.
14. Manage all commercial aspects of the project in a timely and proactive way, giving accurate forecasts and estimates.
15. Understand and implement the Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies and Targets.
16. Be aware of the need to satisfy customer requirements to enhance customer perception and satisfaction.
17. Maintain an appropriate practical knowledge and appreciation of all technical disciplines associated with delivering water and wastewater design and build projects.
18. Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
1. Project Management experience in a variety of project sizes and complexity.
2. Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction-related discipline.
3. APMP or equivalent.
4. Excellent oral and written communicator with the ability to work in close partnership with clients and end users.
5. Delivery-driven with the ability to set targets and manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost, and quality objectives.
6. Extensive experience in large scale infrastructure project delivery.
7. Strategic, operational, technical, and management skills.
Desirable:
1. Experience in water/wastewater infrastructure.
2. Experience in using Primavera or Power project.
3. Chartered or near chartered in a construction discipline.
4. Working knowledge of construction Health & Safety.
