Job summary
To provide a high-quality planning and booking service for non-admitted patients for services within Somerset Foundation Trust and to utilise clinic capacity within the resources available in a modern and efficient way. To review and develop our service provision reflecting current trends, our Trust values, and the needs of our service users.
Main duties of the job
Under the guidance of the management team, the booking officers will liaise with Consultants, specialist nurses, physiologists and their teams to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate appointments according to their care pathway, national and local targets and the Trust Patient Access Policy.
The booking officers will be the first point of contact for patients and service users providing an in-depth knowledge of outpatient scheduling procedures for their speciality for Somerset Foundation Trust and Community Hospitals.
The booking officers will provide a full and comprehensive administrative service for the management of outpatient appointments.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent qualifications including English Language
Experience Essential
* Proven experience of providing customer-focused service
* Proven experience in an administrative role
Desirable
* Effective communication including with distressed, anxious or angry individuals and able to escalate where appropriate
Additional Criteria Essential
* Proficient IT skills including keyboard skills and experience of Microsoft packages
* Ability to meet daily work tasks and deadlines
* Good concentration skills and attention to detail and ability to problem solve
* Able to work on own initiative
* Able to demonstrate a good standard of English language
