Control Room Operator
Base salary - £44,199 - £56,113 plus + 25% Shift Allowance, 11% Contract Hours Allowance & London Allowance

Right now, we're looking for a Control Room Operator to join our City Energy Solutions (CES) team in our Central Control Room based at our Citigen site in Central London. This Central Control Room monitors c70 sites equating to over 46,000 customers. Here you'll be part of a shift team covering 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, remotely monitoring our district Heating, district cooling, and assets such as CHP's, boilers and heat pump plant and equipment across the country. As a control room team member, you'll be responsible for Safety, monitoring our sites, operating, recording and escalating any issues and mobilising engineers to ensure a reliable supply to our customers and value creation from generation assets.
Key responsibilities include
* Manage safety by ensuring that all SSoW reported to the Control Room maintains compliance under safety standards and protocols, robustly challenging engineers and contractors on work being undertaken.
* Manage and control remote access to over 70 energy centres across the UK.
* Remotely monitoring and operating plant and equipment to key performance parameters including availability, reliability, customer power & heat delivery, plant efficiency, energy consumption and generation.
* Making informed decisions rapidly reacting to planned/unplanned outages and incidents on site, communicating with stakeholders such as engineers, on-call managers and Customer Operations.
* Determining which customer supply incidents fulfil the emergency criteria and dispatching engineers appropriately.
* Analyse performance metrics and operational trends to identify areas of improvement to enhance system performance and energy output.
* Use real-time data and advanced tools to monitor operations, ensuring safety and efficiency.
* Collaborate with maintenance teams and key stakeholders to ensure seamless operations while co-ordinating City Energy Solution’s response.
* Provide detailed plant performance data using a variety of systems to produce management reports and analysis on gas plant, CHP, and renewable generating assets.
What we need from you
* Experience and technical knowledge of BMS (Building Management System), SCADA or DCS control systems.
* Knowledge and operational engineering experience gained within the energy sector or an associated sector (oil and gas, heating or generation)
* A proven ability to identify technical problems, evaluate and analyse the situation and provide an appropriate response.
* Experience of developing, implementing and operating within safety, environmental and operational policies, frameworks and statutory legislation.
* Excellent communication, influencing, customer service and stakeholder management skills.
* Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts covering 24 hours a day 365 days a year including night shifts.
* Meticulous attention to detail with a calm approach of providing coordinated solutions, in a high-pressure environment.
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use data to deliver results and influence change.
* Good understanding and awareness of environmental, commercial and legal issues.
* Excellent IT skills.
It would be great if you had
* Educated to Degree, HND/HNC/NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Engineering or a related field.
* Control room experience within an energy sector.
* Previous experience of working with energy providers and other stakeholders to improve plant performance.
* Knowledge or experience on District Heating networks, CHP, Boilers along with an awareness of Energy Centre operations and plant performance.
