Clinical Coder Part Time

HBSUK is looking for motivated, highly enthusiastic, and dynamic Senior Clinical Coder to join our clinical coding team on a Part time basis.
You will be expected to maintain your clinical coding skills and knowledge. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in additional areas of clinical coding such as operational management, clinical engagement, and mentoring. The successful candidate must have a willingness to learn and embrace new experiences within the surgical insourcing & healthcare industry.
The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of all National Clinical Coding standards (ICD-10 5th Edition & OPCS 4.10) as well as general clinical coding practices. The successful candidate must have the ability to adapt to change, have a keen eye for detail, and a proven ability to manage their own workload. They would need to be confident in working with multiple computer systems (including MS Office) as well as collaborating with senior members of HBSUK & the NHS. They must be confident and comfortable working alone as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities
* Code all primary diagnoses & procedures on all HBSUK/NHS surgical insourcing patients.
* Work within and maintain up to date knowledge of all coding standards published by the NHS Digital (Classifications Service)
* To keep up to date with the latest developments in coding by attending regular specialist workshops and refresher courses, and through training and experience, have an extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
* To provide specialist coding advice to clinicians and HBSUK staff on request
* To manage and maintain the effectiveness of, and to identify possible improvements in, the Clinical Coding procedures and protocols within HBSUK.
* Ensure all activity is ready for invoicing according to targets and contractual requirements.
* Completing electronic and/or manual data entry in an accurate and timely manner to agreed standards.
* Respond timely for any request of information.
* Ensuring departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and targets are consistently achieved
* To work autonomously without direct supervision when allocated work and in the achievement of daily coding targets.
* To be proactive, flexible, and supportive towards a smooth way of working within HBSUK practices and processes.
* To assist in the development of trainee and less experienced clinical coders
* To be self sufficient in resolving complex clinical coding queries and issues
Requirements
Essential
Education
* ACC Clinical Coding qualification
Experience
* 3 years+ UK clinical coding experience within the an acute NHS setting
* Up to date Clinical Coding Standards refresher course
* Experience of coding a range of surgical specialties
* Have a good knowledge of medical terminology
* Have previous experience in Clinical Coding within a Secondary Healthcare environment, and will be confident in the use of various software packages including Word & Excel.
* Previous experience of working with Surgeons around op note documentation and terminology
