Our client, a leading research and development company specialising in electric motors, controllers, and inverters, is expanding its Mechanical Engineering team. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the detailed design of electric motor controller components. About the Role As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering development projects related to electric motors and their drive systems. Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will focus on material selection, 3D CAD design, technical drawings, and all associated tasks. You will also support the Chief Technical Officer in ensuring product development meets customer requirements and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical components in accordance with engineering standards and customer requirements. Produce high-quality CAD models and technical drawings, ensuring correct system function with tolerances and GD&T. Conduct materials research and analysis to solve design challenges and optimise performance. Prepare and maintain release packages, design history files, and other project documentation. Perform engineering studies, including DFMEA, tolerance analysis, FEA studies, and root cause analysis. Correlate modelling and simulation results with real-life test results to validate designs. Propose cost-effective, high-reliability designs for manufacturing. Maintain a safe and organised work environment in line with HSE principles. Occasional overseas travel may be required. What Were Looking For: Essential: Degree (BEng/BSc) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Hands-on experience in the original design of traction motors for automotive/off-road applications. Strong background in product development from concept to production. Proficiency in SolidWorks for CAD design and technical drawing preparation. Experience with ANSYS Maxwell for motor calculations/simulations. Competence in ANSYS FEA for structural analysis. Understanding of UKCA, CE directives, and international compliance standards. Desirable: Experience in dynamic, structural, and thermal analysis tools. Knowledge of project management principles and engineering process improvement. Why Join Us?
