Estimator - Civil Engineering Location: Nottingham / Hybrid Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 Negotiable dependant on experience and level plus package including - 25 days annual leave: Plus bank holidays - Company pension plan - Private Healthcare - Death in service offering: Up to five times your annual salary. - Flexible working hours Summary A major civil engineering contractor providing a wide range of specialist contracting services to support the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects throughout the UK is seeking a Civil Engineering Estimator to join our dynamic estimating team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of civil engineering. As a successful candidate you will be methodical and organised with the ability to recognise and source additional resources required to produce estimates, recognise submission requirements to compile a logical sequence of actions necessary to achieve regular deadlines with a background in Tier 1 or 2 infrastructure and experience in estimating / pricing projects across a variety of civil engineering projects. Essential criteria; Who we are looking for:- Qualifications: A degree in General Civil Engineering or a related field. - Experience: Proven experience in pricing General Civil Engineering and Highways tenders. - Knowledge: A deep understanding of civil engineering and the construction industry. - Confidence: Independently pricing projects with minimal reliance on others. - Direct and concise: Exceptional analytical skills, including strong financial acumen and organisational abilities. - Ability: Thrive in high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines. - Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Role and responsibilities; What your role will include:- Winning Work: Drive our success by producing winning tenders and nurturing key customer relationships. - Cost Estimation: Create precise cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment, based on customer drawings and specifications. - Market Insight: Stay ahead of the curve by understanding current market prices and benchmarking our solutions for increased success rates. - Collaboration: Work closely with the New Business Manger to ensure compliance with J McCann Limited's procedures, business strategy, and clearance levels. - Customer Engagement: Assist in presenting tender proposals to customers and actively participate in customer meetings throughout the tender process. - Risk Management: Assess and adhere to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements, ensuring the safety of all stakeholders. - Supplier Selection: Source suitable sub-contractors and specialists for each project to guarantee the highest quality standards. - Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with Construction Managers, Planners, and the Design Team to ensure seamless project execution. - Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documents for senior management to showcase cost calculations and project feasibility. - Knowledge Transfer: Ensure a smooth handover of bid documentation to the commercial and project operations teams.
