We are seeking a skilled and proactive Decorating Repairs & Support Technician with a strong multi-trade skillset to undertake reactive decoration works on both internal and external areas of our properties. In this role, you will also be responsible for minor maintenance and repair work, ensuring all tasks are carried out efficiently and to a high standard.
This role is a 12-month FTC covering long-term sick leave within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out internal and external painting and decorating tasks as required.
* Prepare walls and surfaces, ensuring they are ready for decoration.
* Minor repair work to surfaces and structures before painting.
* Use relevant tools and equipment safely and effectively.
* Erect and safely use access equipment, including ladders and scaffolding.
* Undertake plastering tasks, including mixing and applying coats of plaster, cement, and render.
* Carry out plasterboard installation, including measuring, marking, cutting, and securing panels.
* Conduct minor carpentry and plumbing repairs when needed.
* Assist with additional day-to-day maintenance tasks beyond decorating.
* Monitor and manage decorating materials, ensuring timely stock replenishment.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues and external service providers to deliver excellent service.
* Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, including carrying out risk assessments and method statements.
* Identify and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce repair costs.
What We’re Looking For:
* Recognised qualification (NVQ/BTEC) in Painting & Decorating or a minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience.
* Strong multi-trade skills, including plastering, minor carpentry, and plumbing.
* Proven ability to provide high-quality, customer-focused service.
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of issues.
* Physical fitness to safely use ladders and scaffolding.
* General understanding of all trade works and best practices.
* Health & Safety awareness relevant to the role, including risk assessments.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Adaptable, flexible, and a strong team player.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Full, valid UK driving licence.
Preferred Criteria:
* Experience working in both public and private sector housing.
* Understanding of CITB industry health and safety standards.
