IO Associates have partnered with a leading organization in the Oil & Gas sector, who is seeking a proactive and experienced HSSEQ Advisor to join their team. As the HSSEQ Advisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and driving the company's high standards in health, safety, security, environment, and quality across their sites in Canvey and Coryton.
In this role the responsibilities will include:
- Act as a trusted HSSEQ partner to site leaders, ensuring safe and compliant operations at both terminals
- Conduct inspections, audits, and emergency preparedness activities to ensure compliance with both internal and legislative requirements
- Champion a culture of "Visible Felt Leadership" by providing coaching to managers and engaging with the workforce
- Investigate incidents, identify trends, and implement improvement actions to mitigate risks and enhance safety performance
- Support external inspections and maintain UKAS Accreditation for the site
- Deliver engaging training, inductions, toolbox talks, and safety communications
- Lead risk assessments, contractor management, emergency response planning, and occupational health risk control
- Facilitate safety meetings, walkarounds, and behavioural observations to promote best practices and address unsafe behaviors
To be successful in the role you will need:
- NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent Level 5 qualification
- Background in science or engineering is preferred
- Certification as an ISO 9001 auditor, with knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001
- Previous experience in COMAH/high-hazard environments with a strong understanding of process safety management
- Proficiency in hazard evaluation (HAZID/HAZOP), risk assessments, emergency planning, and incident investigations
- Excellent communication and coaching skills with the ability to influence people at all levels
- In-depth knowledge of HSSEQ systems and best practices
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operational or engineering environment, preferably within a major hazard industry
