We are thrilled to offer an excellent opportunity to join our AXA Commercial business reporting to the Head of Future Skills where you will spearhead our Underwriting Capability agenda by shaping our Underwriting Academy and offerings as they evolve.

What you’ll be doing:
* Significantly improve core underwriting capability and competence within the business. This will be achieved through collaboration with technical leaders in the creation and deployment of impactful learning initiatives that support the development of Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours aligned to the Capability Framework.
* Monitor deployment of and embedding of learning through a variety of solutions, including appropriate evaluation, personalised coaching / PDP support and AI tools, as required.
* Own the Underwriting Job Architecture and associated processes and documentation related to role clarity, goal setting, and performance management and standardised tools and processes to support recruitment and selection of Underwriting talent. Ensure that appropriate governance is in place to manage and monitor adherence / success.
* Accountable for the relationship with CII and ABI from a professional development perspective, and other external delivery partners as required.
* Monitor robustness of compulsory CPD (for IDD), including education and comms to business leaders and collaboration with first line risk team and UK COE to ensure accurate ‘in scope’ role identification and reporting.
* Use external intelligence market trends with best-in-class capability and learning practices to influence the business strategy enabling AXA to become known for its high-quality technical learning solutions.
* Understand the requirements of the business strategy and future skills plan and evolve offering to accommodate new process, and technical and trading expectations.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What you’ll bring:
* Experience in creating and managing a technical capability strategy with associated learning curriculum and delivery plan, including relevant professional / learning standards.
* Ability to evaluate capability across a large organisation.
* Exposure of working in an agile change environment, has a continuous improvement mindset and able to think forward to future business requirements and needs.
* Working as part of a team to deliver at pace. Confident in making decisions on behalf of the business to represent the needs / views of key stakeholders.
* Partnering with external parties to procure, design, and develop training material / programmes and technology solutions.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with exceptional level of attention to detail.
* Comfortable to challenge senior stakeholders and influence development expectations and culture across an organisation, driving consistency and self-directed learning.
* Collaborative working style with demonstrable experience of engaging with business teams to drive change and performance improvement across the organisation.
* A good understanding of how insurance companies operate - processes, skills, data, roles and challenges. Maintains up to date knowledge of industry best practice.
* Relationship / account management, to include negotiation, contracting, consultancy, facilitation, influencing, presentation and communication skills.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
