As a Senior Fire Safety Surveyor, you will lead by example, mentoring the surveyor team, and stepping in as deputy during periods of absence or increased demand. Responsibilities: Act as the deputy for the Business Lead during absences or peak demand, and support team motivation by leading by example. Ensure current fire risk assessments are in place, manage actions from inspections, and maintain up-to-date data systems. Conduct and review fire safety risk assessments, ensuring timely and standard-compliant delivery of recommendations. Oversee the quality assurance of completed Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and ensure a high standard in cyclical fire safety inspections, servicing, and audits. Manage fire safety maintenance activities, including data collection, legal referrals, remedial actions, and reporting, to ensure compliance and high standards. Monitor and audit contractor work for compliance with safety practices and specifications. Maintain accurate compliance data and records, and manage legal referrals in coordination with legal representatives. Use KPIs to monitor and ensure fire compliance activities meet all policies and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with other teams to ensure coordinated compliance efforts and resolve access issues efficiently. Ensure appropriate testing regimes for communal fire safety services, and collaborate with Development teams to ensure specifications meet safety requirements. Work with the Assets teams to implement cost-effective, sustainable maintenance programs that reduce liability and access visits. Ensure compliance with building regulations and other applicable laws. Review and update fire safety policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices. Conduct audits to monitor compliance with internal policies and procedures. Support fire safety during construction stages and assist with onsite assessments. Provide technical fire safety support to internal and external stakeholders and investigate fire incidents, offering detailed reports. Liaise with Building Control, Fire Services, and other professional bodies, escalating significant issues as needed. Support the development and delivery of fire safety training and provide technical guidance to the Fire Safety Team. Act as a key contact for fire safety enquiries and support the Business Lead in producing statistics and benchmarking data. Engage with customers on fire safety matters, including attending relevant meetings and participating in tenant engagement activities. Assist with Fire Safety project planning, execution, and campaign delivery for internal and external stakeholders. Stay updated on Health and Safety legislation and provide technical support to foster a fire safety culture within the business. Contribute to delivering an operational plan that aligns with Torus’ vision and values. Skills & Experience: Level 3 qualification in fire safety or equivalent Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer, Managing Fire Safety or equivalent or willing to work towards. IOSH Managing Safely qualification or equivalent. Evidence of and commitment to continual professional, leadership and personal development. Knowledge and experience of compliance requirements specific to the function area, that has been gained through extensive and relevant experience, including the implementation and management of work programmes and suppliers. Detailed knowledge of operational fire safety systems installation and maintenance, including fire detection systems Experience working with fire compliance data and monitored performance through compliance databases. A sound knowledge of all health and safety legislation relevant to property maintenance and construction projects including fire safety and remedial work. A sound knowledge relating to the management of fire safety and management controls including reports and information for contractors and customers. Experience of fire risk assessment programmes with emphasis on quality, accuracy, consistency and completion of remedial work and provision of auditable assurance. Able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge of property management gained through relevant experience including the implementation and management of fire control processes.
