Job overview
Maidstone CMHT is a diverse, multi-cultural team that is looking to recruit a band 5 Mental Health Nurse in a development post to work within the team, providing specialist mental health care for people with multiple and complex needs that require intensive support.
The role is varied and will cover depot and clozapine clinics, home depots, and duty.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Carry out comprehensive, systematic nursing assessments considering relevant factors in partnership with the patient and others.
2. Work collaboratively with other disciplines, patients, and their carers to agree on a holistic person-centred care plan.
3. Deliver and evaluate safe, competent patient-centred care in partnership with the service user and their carers to support recovery.
Main duties of the job
1. Act as a Practice Assessor.
2. Adhere to NMC registration and revalidation requirements.
3. Adhere to KMPT’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.
4. Assess, act on, and report any safeguarding concerns.
5. Promote self-care and involve carers where appropriate.
6. Safely manage, administer medications, and monitor their effects.
7. Supervise a range of other staff and their activities as delegated.
8. Record and report accurately any changes related to patient behaviour and risks.
9. Promote a healthy, safe, and secure environment by adhering to Trust statutory health and safety requirements.
10. Support new team members through demonstration and explanation of tasks.
11. Undertake and maintain all essential training to role.

Person specification
Registered Mental Health
* Current NMC registration
* Knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks and policies relating to care
* Previous experience of working in adult mental health
* Previous experience of working within the NHS
Clinical knowledge
* Sound understanding of secondary mental health diagnoses
* Good understanding of physical health conditions
* Previous experience of working in clozapine/depot clinics
Mental Health Knowledge
* Understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007
* Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act
* Understanding of cognitive behavioural therapy
