Were looking for a Safeguarding Officer to supportour Director of Safeguarding and Health and Safety in addressing welfare andsafety concerns for the children and young people at Priors Court. Your rolewill be vital in promoting high safeguarding standards and ensuring that everyyoung person is protected in our care.
Please Note: A full UK driving licence ispreferred due to our location.
Main duties of the job
As a Safeguarding Officer, you will play a crucialrole in responding and monitoring safeguarding issues. You will assist inimplementing safeguarding policies and practices, ensuring the higheststandards are maintained. Your work will involve regular analysis ofsafeguarding data and collaborating with staff and external agencies to promotea safe environment for all.

Priors Court is a registered charity providing education and residential care for autistic young people with complex needs, aged 5-25. Set within a 50-acre site in Berkshire, we have extensive bespoke facilities to help the young people we support to be healthy, happy, more independent and have the opportunity to access the world of work.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. Assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead in responding to welfare and safety concerns.
2. Monitor and analyse safeguarding data to identify trends and concerns.
3. Provide a responsive service for safeguarding inquiries related to children and young people.
4. Guide staff on safeguarding practices to ensure every young person's safety.
5. Support the delivery of safeguarding training for staff, volunteers, and agencies.
6. Liaise with external safeguarding partners and agencies as needed.
7. Manage allegations and referrals in accordance with Priors Courts safeguarding policies.
8. Maintain accurate and secure safeguarding documentation.
9. Collaborate with HR on suitability assessments for staff and volunteers.
Person Specification
Skills / Knowledge
Essential
10. Awareness of safeguarding legislation, guidance, and thresholds
11. Ability to write balanced and factually accurate reports.
Qualifications
Essential
12. Diploma 3 in Health and Social Care
13. Willingness to complete relevant training for the role universal safeguarding training for children and adults, DSL training, train the trainer course, safer recruitment, allegation management training
Desirable
14. Diploma Level 5 or NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care
15. A management qualification
Experience
Essential
16. Experience in providing care and learning for children and / or vulnerable young people.
17. Experience within a safeguarding role or a management role with safeguarding responsibilities.
18. Experience in working with external partners / agencies
Desirable
19. Knowledge of Autism, Learning Disabilities and associated complex needs.
20. Experience in delivering training.
21. Experience in conducting effective investigations, with reasonable outcomes.
