Legacy Youth Zone in Croydon, also known as 'Legacy', is a purpose-built facility for young people aged 8 – 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs.
It costs £1.5 million a year to run Legacy, 90% of which is generated through voluntary donations. You will therefore play a vital role in keeping the charity financially sustainable through the development of grants fundraising. You will be given ample scope to test your creative ideas and drive forward income generation, supported by the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the Chief Executive and a forward-thinking and engaged Board of Trustees.
Role Description
The role of Grants Manager will play a leading role in Legacy’s Fundraising Team, developing our grant fundraising capabilities and growing this income stream. The role’s primary purpose is to generate unrestricted income, together with delivering funding for targeted projects (such as employability programmes, mentoring programmes, or mental health initiatives). Legacy has developed a targeted funds infrastructure with live impact data established and ready to utilise in funding proposals.
Qualifications
1. Delivering annual income, according to target, by submitting bids to charitable trusts & foundations and occasional statutory funders, that meet the funding needs of Legacy Youth Zone. Proposing, researching, costing and writing grant applications for a range of gift levels that typically span £25,000 to £500,000.
2. Working collaboratively with the team in submission of your bids, working to pre-agreed priorities for funding.
3. Ensuring that Legacy’s delivery team are aware of all reporting deadlines that need to be met for funders during the funding period.
4. Working as part of the team to monitor performance against agreed KPI’s.
5. Stewardship of funders, producing high-quality reports that exceed our funders’ expectations and encourage ongoing/uplifted support for the Youth Zone.
6. Utilise the organisation’s CRM database SalesForce to record all fundraising activity accurately and ensure records are up to date.
7. Lead on the Grants strategy and take an active role in contributing to fundraising plans and wider fundraising strategy for Legacy Youth Zone, being supported by and communicating with your line manager.
8. Represent Legacy Youth Zone at fundraising events, networking opportunities and external meetings.
9. Be an active member of the team, carrying out any other reasonable duties as requested by the management team, and operating in line with the values and principles of the Youth Zone.
