The Role as a Technical Manager
You will play a pivotal role in enhancing CIPFA’s global reputation by contributing your expertise to the development of guidance, training, qualifications, and CPD for public sector audit professionals.
You will:
1. Lead on performance audit research to inform CIPFA’s training, guidance, thought leadership, and best practice frameworks.
2. Support the design, delivery, and assessment of CIPFA’s chartered performance audit qualification.
3. Represent CIPFA on international bodies, providing expert advice and advocacy.
4. Develop policy positions, professional guidance, and standards, including submissions to consultations.
5. Act as an ambassador for CIPFA, building strong networks and collaborating across teams. This role may require travel across the UK and internationally.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
1. Degree-level education or equivalent practical experience.
2. Technical expertise in public sector external audit, including performance audit.
3. Experience in training, public speaking, and developing qualifications, particularly in digital environments.
4. Strong knowledge of the global public sector audit and performance audit landscape.
5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
6. Proven project management skills and a proactive approach to meeting tight deadlines.
7. Collaborative mindset with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
8. Flexibility, resilience, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Desirable:
1. Experience working in an international environment, particularly in capacity building.
2. Familiarity with digital training methods and methodologies.
