Freelance Bid Manager – Civils (Contract – Outside IR35)
Location: 2 days per week in Wiltshire, 3 days remote
We are seeking an experienced Bid Manager with a strong background in civils projects to lead the technical, quality, and commercial aspects of a high-value (£500m+) bid. This role is with a main contractor and requires a hands-on approach to ensure the bid is developed accurately and submitted successfully.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate all bid management activities, including kick-off meetings, progress reviews, quality checks, and final settlement.
* Develop, maintain, and implement the bid programme, ensuring key milestones are met.
* Compile and submit corporate governance documents and present them as required.
* Manage proposal and review teams to produce high-quality responses within required timeframes.
* Oversee technical teams and suppliers, ensuring accurate methods and offers inform the programme and estimate.
* Ensure accuracy and consistency throughout the bid development process.
Requirements:
✅ Civils experience is essential.
✅ Proven track record managing high-value (£500m+) bids.
✅ Strong understanding of technical, quality, and commercial bid elements.
✅ Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
✅ Excellent organisational and communication skills.
✅ Experience working with main contractors on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
Hybrid Working: 2 days per week in Wiltshire, 3 days remote.
Must have the right to work in the UK unrestricted.
