This role could be based in any of our offices in Taunton, Exeter or Bath.
The Role
As an Audit Senior at Moore Scarrott Group, you will play a key role in overseeing audit engagements for a diverse range of clients alongside the Audit Manager. You will be responsible for planning, conducting, and completing audit assignments alongside the Audit Manager and a team of juniors. Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while delivering exceptional client service for all our clients is your responsibility.
This role is suited to someone who is in the final stages of their ACA or ACCA qualification. With a keen eye for detail, strong technical expertise, and the ability to build trusted client relationships, this could be the role that accelerates your development to Audit Manager in the future.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead audit engagements from initial planning through to completion, ensuring compliance with ISAs and regulatory standards.
* Prepare and review audit plans, focusing on risk assessment and effective audit approaches.
* Conduct fieldwork, including gathering and analysing financial data, understanding clients' internal controls, and identifying key areas of audit risk.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing communications and expectations throughout the audit process.
* Present findings and recommendations to clients, clearly explaining audit observations and potential implications for their business.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships to support long-term partnerships and business growth.
* Review financial statements, ensuring they align with UK GAAP, IFRS, and other applicable standards.
* Identify and document findings and recommendations, preparing detailed reports for clients and managers.
* Contribute to client insights by highlighting opportunities for financial and operational improvements.
* Supervise junior audit staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their development and ensure quality work.
* Delegate tasks effectively, balancing workloads and maintaining efficient audit workflows.
* Conduct detailed reviews of work completed by junior team members, offering feedback to support their professional growth.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant auditing standards and internal quality procedures.
* Stay current on industry changes and developments in accounting standards, audit regulations, and best practices.
* Participate in internal quality control reviews, contributing to continuous improvement within the audit function.
About You
* Final exams of ACA or ACCA qualifications
* 2-4 years of experience in audit within the UK.
* Strong understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting frameworks.
* Proven experience managing client engagements and leading audit teams.
* Charity audit experience preferred, but not essential.
