If you are suitably qualified with appropriate experience then consider joining our Trust's Immunology team.
The largest department of its kind in North West England, we're centrally located, with good public transport links. We're well-staffed and proactively developed and supported by continual professional development and academic courses. We were the first immunology lab in the UK to hold UKAS/ISO 15189 accreditation. We are also the first Immunology team to successfully implement a Multiplex (BioPlex) testing system and we are at the forefront of electronic requesting and reporting both to GPs and clinicians. The department is constantly evolving and is in the process of implementing a managed service contract for new equipment and pre-analytics.
Main duties of the job
Working in one of the sections of the laboratory on a rotational basis, you will provide support to Biomedical Scientists providing services to patients and clients alike as an aid to clinical diagnosis. You'll also be part of an expanding department where there are many opportunities for personal development. The skills you acquire will be actively nurtured to ensure you're able to contribute and support the work of our department as a valued member of staff.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Appropriate Science NVQ level 3, Apprenticeship Level 2, Certificate of Achievement Part 1 or equivalent.
2. GCSE Grade C or above, with English, Maths and at least one science.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
1. Evidence of training & development within a relevant pathology discipline.
2. Have working knowledge of laboratory areas, including both practical and basic theoretical knowledge of the various methods employed.
3. Competent to process a range of tests/processes on a variety of different specimens.
4. Demonstrate sufficient knowledge and skills to be able to train other staff.
5. Evidence of using complex laboratory equipment.
6. Understanding of Laboratory Health and Safety procedures and protocols.
Desirable
1. Experience of supervision and training.
