Overview
As a Youth Worker at our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting and empowering young individuals to develop essential life skills and foster positive relationships within the community. You will be responsible for guiding and mentoring youth to achieve personal growth and independence.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide guidance and support to young people in areas such as budgeting, food shopping, and managing finances.
2. Encourage participation in community activities to build healthy relationships and social networks.
3. Assist youth in accessing educational opportunities, including aiding in CV writing and interview preparation.
4. Engage young individuals in activities that promote personal development and self-confidence.
5. Support youth in maintaining personal hygiene standards and health care practices.
6. Help young people develop coping mechanisms for complex behavioral issues.
7. Assist in integrating young individuals into the community and accessing local resources.
8. Maintain accurate records of interactions and activities with youth.
9. Participate in group and one-on-one activities both on-site and off-site.
10. Conduct regular cleaning, laundry, and household chores to ensure a safe environment.
11. Conduct Health and Safety checks within the accommodation regularly.
12. Uphold confidentiality while reporting any concerns regarding a young person's welfare to the appropriate channels.
13. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and supervision sessions as required.
14. Adhere to policies, procedures, and professional boundaries at all times.
Qualifications:
Essential:
1. Experience working with children or youth in challenging environments.
2. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with young individuals and team members.
3. Ability to identify risks and manage challenging behaviours appropriately.
4. Understanding of regulations such as Children Act 1989 and Care Standards Act 2000.
5. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and sleep-in duties.
6. Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) for working with children & adults.
Desirable:
1. Experience in report writing and use of office software like Office 365/G Suite.
2. Previous experience supporting youth with complex behavioral needs.
3. Completion or commitment to obtaining QCF/NVQ Level 3 award in Health & Social Care.
