Job Description
An exciting climate tech start-up are looking for an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join their growing team based in Oxford, UK. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented engineer with a background in electromechanical system development to play a key role an ocean energy start-up set to revolutionise ocean generation by providing a better, smarter method of generating energy.
The Company
By 2050 the global ocean energy sector will be worth an estimated $53bn a year, 11% of the UK energy industry could be tidal – worth approximately £3bn in 2035. The sector has enormous potential.
This company, an innovative ocean energy start-up, have developed a tidal energy platform that will surpass current ocean energy generation technologies. The company’s platform is based on original research from the University of Oxford. Through biomimicry the company have developed a fin based system that can operate in slow tides and shallow waters, overcoming the constraints of pre-existing ocean energy technologies. Simply put the technology is a better, smarter, energy generator with far less constraints and a far greater return than the current ocean energy technologies such as offshore windfarms.
The role
The company, a young start-up, are expanding and looking to recruit a Power Systems Engineer to join their team. The Power Systems Engineer will be a key member of a small, agile team working to develop the company’s core technology. They will be working alongside industry experts to develop the overall platform from prototype to scale.
