We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within the School of Engineering, on the collaborative project: Drone Aerodynamics and Wake Interactions: Towards Urban Air Mobility.
Your role is to design, set-up, and conduct an experiment in a wind tunnel to study the wake of a drone in various environments, mimicking large scale urban flows. The objective is to provide an understanding of and modelling capability in the wake persistence. This is to be used in the future as input for a traffic management framework for Uncrewed Aerial Systems.
You will be expected to have expertise, experience, and a track record in Experimental Aerodynamics research or industrial environment, a PhD or equivalent relevant degree in an engineering topic as well as qualifications and training in either Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
The post is fixed term and is available for 12 months. If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
