Morr & Co LLP is an established but modern top 200 law firm with plans for growth.
We pride ourselves on providing high quality and creative thinking, as well as generating enduring relationships. The firm's culture of listening to and supporting others applies as much to the approach we take with our clients as it does to the connections we build with our colleagues.
We have a long history and big ambitions, and we believe that we combine the quality, capability, and resources of a large firm with the approachability of a smaller practice.
As a firm, we are also committed to harnessing technology in order to continually improve the quality, efficiency and delivery of our services.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing monthly Barclaycard breakdown analysis for the firm’s expenditure across the many cardholders. Ensuring that the Statements are correctly coded and posted, and all replies from the cardholders are received.
* Ensuring that Barclaycard is notified of new starters, changes and leavers, and dealing with any cardholder queries regarding their card.
* Assisting the Legal Cashiers during staff absence or busy periods (e.g. bank reconciliations, processing of payments, input of purchase ledger invoices).
* Review and apply quarterly Client Account interest in accordance with the Interest Policy.
* Assisting with monitoring and controlling residual balances.
* Assisting with providing information and data to the auditors during the Financial and Solicitors Accounts Rules audits.
* Providing monthly and ad-hoc reports whenever required.
* Monitoring write-off levels and ensuring the work in progress balance is accurate.
* Working with the Financial Controller to ensure all monthly nominal journals are posted, and the balances of Prepayments and Accruals are reviewed regularly.
* Reviewing the general Accounts query inbox to ensure that all queries are dealt with promptly by the Legal Cashiers and assisting with answering general Accounts queries.
Salary and benefits
We offer very competitive salaries and generous benefits.
You will also benefit from our career development programme. We are award winning in relation to the investment we make in our people, and we will provide you with clear expectations of your role, including a route-map for your progression, assessment, and individual feedback. You will be provided with access to training tailored to you and will be rewarded based on what you contribute, not your tenure.
The suitable candidate:
* Will have a minimum of GCSE English and Maths at A-C/4-9 or equivalent.
* A recognised accountancy qualification (or working towards one), or equivalent relevant experience, is required. Experience within a Solicitors’ Accounts team would be highly advantageous (particularly knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules), but for the right candidate it would not be essential, if you are willing to learn and have strong general accounts experience.
* Experience within professional services
* Minimum 3 years’ experience
* The ability to work under pressure whilst adhering to time constraints
* Excellent IT skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly with the ability to manipulate numerical data
* Your verbal and written communication will be clear, straightforward, and accurate
* You will have the ability to use your own initiative and demonstrate excellent team working skills
* You will be adaptable, logical and work well under pressure
