Import & Customs Administrator
Location Stafford
Six-month contract
Key responsibilities:
* Day-to-day responsibility for ensuring the facility’s imports are cleared compliantly; in-line with HMRC and Company requirements; using established processes whilst avoiding disruption to delivery schedules including:
* Provide timely and accurate clearance instructions to Customs Brokers, ensuring strict UK guidelines and time constraints are met
* Management of relevant import documents (checking for correctness / completeness and cross-checking sources of information), liaising with stakeholders to resolve queries / obtain any additional documentation / remediate discrepancies to prevent any errors or oversights
* Calculation of accruing customs duties, ensuring duty savings are obtained where appropriate
* Produce accurate records, logs and files containing import documents that satisfy the scrutiny of HMRC and Company audits
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders and maintain compliance metrics
* Responsible for reporting non-compliant cases
* Escalate relevant issues to Customs Compliance Supervisor
* Co-ordination of classification requests
* Continuous improvement contributions by identifying areas of improvement to optimise procedures

Essential

- Highly focused and accurate with a meticulous eye for detail
- Excellent organisational skills with ability to use own initiative and apply a problem-solving mindset, able to prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines and achieve multiple priorities efficiently
- Good written, verbal communication and administrative skills
- Confident using Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel (able to demonstrate basic formulas, pivot tables, formatting, charts, etc) and able to resolve IT issues with Helpdesk support where appropriate

3. Understanding of incoterms
4. Previous experience of working within an imports/export role or working with CDS.
