The Opportunity As the Solutions Architect you will be leading the architecture for business and technology change programmes helping us mature our IT landscape and creating exciting new IT services for our business. You will be responsible for setting the direction for our Enterprise IT capabilities and will lead the delivery of change in a complex and changing business environment. You will be the key point of contact for senior stakeholders, explaining the direction for our IT landscape and translating technical jargon so they are involved and understand the next new steps we are taking. What you’ll be doing We are looking for a Solution Architect that can bring leadership to our Technology delivery. You will be able to inspire and motivate our business to embrace change, show the “art of the possible” and make an impact in the digital services we develop. You will have a good understanding of how technology is evolving in the IT industry and experience in bringing that knowledge to solve real world problems. • Develop IS strategy for Nuclear Operations. • Propose innovative solutions and engage in Proof-of-Concept activities. • Collaborate with vendors and analysts to understand technologies and their benefits. • Define IS and IT road maps for architecture evolution. • Maintain design standards with the Solution and Enterprise Architecture Team. • Translate business requirements into technical solutions. • Manage architecture for large projects. • Act as the Intelligent Customer for solution architecture and design. • Ensure compliance and quality standards for all solutions, prioritizing nuclear safety. • Build relationships within EDF Energy and EDF Group to align IT policies and strategies. • Modernize applications and processes using Azure. • Create presentations to explain changes to non-technical audiences. Who you are For this position, a degree or equivalent experience in architectural design is required, preferably with training in solution design. Personal qualities are as important as technical skills. The ideal candidate should have a strategic outlook, excellent communication skills, and experience with business stakeholders, IT experts, developers, and third parties. A consultative approach is essential for translating technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders. You should be capable of leading design discussions, making consensus-based decisions, and applying standards and best practices. Attention to detail, strategic thinking, and leadership experience in a complex organization are crucial. Relevant technical experience, including designing, evaluating, and selecting solutions, and working with vendors and research partners, is required. A methodological approach, focus on standards, and excellent IT industry knowledge are essential. Understanding utilities industry concepts and IT development processes is ideal. Knowledge of cloud-based platforms, especially Microsoft Azure, is important as the IT landscape evolves towards cloud architectures. Experience in cloud solution design is highly beneficial. To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have held a UK Citizenship or Nationality for at least 5 years.
