The Lead R&D Engineer will have responsibility for the successful execution of all Research and Development tasks being handled by the Oil States Engineering Department. The individual shall be required to participate in customer and sales meetings, when appropriate. Key Responsibilities: The Lead R&D Engineer shall have a high level of expertise and be willing to take on supervisory roles, along with mentoring of less experienced engineers. They will be in a position of authority without the responsibility of directly managing people. Provide advice, assistance, expertise and supervision to Engineers handling R&D tasks. Write and submit R&D AFEs. Responsible for execution of R&D tasks – including planning, monitoring & reporting. Responsible for prototype and test sample manufacture. Responsible for making designs manufacture ready. Responsible for all Intellectual Property issues relating to R&D. Liaise with 3 rd party certification authorities. Take a leadership role in continuous development of how analysis is carried out, maintaining accuracy of results and improving execution. Assume a broad role in contributing with engineering design, design reviews, contract reviews, etc. Carry out and check Engineering design and analysis. Preparation, checking and approving of drawings, documents, reports and calculations to ensure that they meet the required project specific and technical standards. Facilitate and support process improvement within the business. Adhere to the company HS&E policy and promote health, safety and welfare throughout the department. Complete any other engineering tasks as necessary, such as Concession Requests (CR’s) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s), etc. Qualifications/Experience: Engineering Degree minimum, Chartered Engineer preferred. Professional in attitude and outlook to engineering. Possess a high degree of expertise and understanding of Finite Element Analysis and Hand Calculations. Well organised and decisive, with good communication skills. Drive and motivation to improve project and product based analysis execution and the development of other engineers in this field.
