Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, specifically dry lining, and will be responsible for managing project costs, procurement, and ensuring the financial success of each project.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with project managers, estimators, and subcontractors, ensuring that all aspects of the project are accurately costed, tracked, and delivered in line with the budget and timeframe. You will be involved in all stages of the project lifecycle, from initial cost estimation to final account settlement.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management: Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for dry lining projects. Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure financial control.
Tendering & Procurement: Assist in tender preparation, manage procurement processes, and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure best value.
Contract Administration: Administer contracts and manage variations, claims, and disputes with clients and subcontractors.
Value Engineering: Assess opportunities for cost-saving solutions and improvements without compromising on quality or safety.
Project Reporting: Produce detailed financial reports for project managers and senior management, highlighting any potential risks or issues.
Site Visits: Conduct site visits to monitor progress and assess the work completed, ensuring it aligns with cost projections.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks to the business throughout the course of the project.
Final Account: Prepare and negotiate final accounts for projects, ensuring full recovery of costs and contract terms.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the dry lining or construction industry.
Qualification: A degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (MRICS preferred but not essential).
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of dry lining systems, building regulations, and construction processes.
Software: Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft, or similar) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in cost estimation, financial reporting, and contract administration.
Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively, working to tight deadlines
