We are seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician who is a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills to take on the role of Lead Technician within the Radiopharmacy/PET service of the Pharmacy Department at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) site.
The Radiopharmacy produces mainly 99mTc-radiopharmaceuticals as well as cell labelling procedures. The John Mallard Scottish PET Centre produces very short lived positron emitting radiopharmaceuticals.
Working closely with the multi disciplinary Nuclear Medicine & PET teams you would be expected to learn to dispense as well as to manage the aseptic dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals, perform documentation and final checks on radiopharmaceuticals, perform quality control procedures including purity testing on the preparations, calibration checks, maintain the facilities, supervise environmental monitoring, other work maintaining the GMP status of the unit and assuming responsibility as the service Lead Technician. The post holder will be part of the wider Pharmacy Operational Management Team (OMT) and attend Pharmacy Governance Meetings.
The ideal candidate should have:
1. Diploma in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent). Have significant hospital radiopharmacy/aseptic service experience.
2. Have or be willing to undertake the post graduate Radiopharmacy course.
3. Radiopharmacy experience preferred but not essential.
4. Ability to manage their own time as well as that of their own team.
5. Have good attention to detail and knowledge of GMP.
6. Good numeracy and literacy skills.
7. Good IT skills.
8. Effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
9. Required to meet Ionising Radiation Regulations Medical for Classified Workers.
Within the department we have an excellent relationship with other key professionals in order to maximise efficiency of the services provided. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining their own competency to practice through CPD activities and maintain a portfolio that reflects personal development. This is a fulltime position however applicants requesting part time hours may be considered if compatible with service provision.
