Manufacturing Manager Location: Saltley, B8 Working Hours: Monday Thursday 07.00 16.15, Friday 07:00 12:00 Contract Type: Permanent Base salary: £42,000 per annum overtime (up to an additional £20k per annum) Empowered Personnel is currently recruiting a Manufacturing Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Manager with a strong mechanical engineering background who is proficient in brazing and soldering, bench fitting, and ideally has experience working with induction heating furnaces and inductor coils. The ideal Manufacturing Manager will possess leadership qualities and have experience managing a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Manager Key Responsibilities: Quoting work to be done and assisting the sales team with accurate quoting, site visits, and technical input. Identifying material, machining, and fabricating requirements for non-standard items that are subcontracted. Tooling requirements identification and ordering non-standard parts and materials. Liaising with suppliers to ensure the timely and cost-effective purchase of materials and components. Liaising with customers to ensure clear communication, accurate order processing, and customer satisfaction. Prioritising work and allocating tasks to the appropriate personnel to meet deadlines. Progress chasing to ensure the smooth flow of production. Budget control during the progress of all jobs to ensure efficiency and cost control. Preparing Work In Progress (WIP) for invoicing, including labour, materials, etc. Ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process. Promoting and ensuring safe working practices are adhered to at all times. Training personnel to improve skillsets and maintain high standards of work. Visiting customers for sales, relationship-building, continuous improvement, and promoting new products. Manufacture/repair of all types of inductors, furnaces, quenches, power delivery items, etc. (typically 50% of your time). Booking jobs and setting sales orders. Signing off time cards and logging onto the accounts system. Supporting disciplinary/grievance situations when necessary. Reporting to and updating Management and the team on departmental progress. Handling general administrative duties related to the department. Qualifications and Skills: Strong mechanical engineering background with hands-on experience in brazing, soldering, and bench fitting. Preferably experienced in working with induction heating furnaces and inductor coils. Proven leadership abilities and the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly in the production and repair of industrial equipment. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively. Ability to liaise confidently with both suppliers and customers. Knowledge of budget control and ensuring the profitability of jobs. Ability to train personnel and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
