About the School:
We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a large secondary school in Ellesmere Port from January 2025. This role is a fantastic chance to make a real difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting them in overcoming challenges and reaching their full potential.
Role Overview:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students on a 1-to-1 basis and in small groups, providing tailored support to those with a range of SEND needs, including students with challenging behaviours. You will be an integral part of the school's dedicated support team, helping to create a positive, inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.
The role is full-time, temporary until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, where you will be able to develop your skills and make a lasting impact on students’ education.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide support to students with SEND on a 1-to-1 and small group basis.
* Assist students in overcoming challenges, focusing on their individual needs and learning styles.
* Support students with behavioural difficulties and help them develop strategies to manage their emotions.
* Work closely with teachers to adapt learning materials and ensure all students are included in lessons.
* Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENDCO.
* Foster a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes positive behaviour and academic progress.
What We’re Looking For:
* Previous experience working with children in any capacity, including education, youth work, residential care, or similar fields.
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to manage challenging situations with confidence.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
* A positive and proactive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting students with SEND.
* While a formal Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable, it is not essential.
* A commitment to helping students achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
