Heat Treatment Operative / Chargehand
Job Description
Special Steels Ltd is the largest independent heat treatment company in the country in terms of capacity and process range. Due to increasing demand, we have vacancies for experienced Heat Treatment Operatives and Chargehands to join our busy site in Sheffield.
Duties include:
1. Loading and unloading of customer's material from vehicles.
2. Making up furnace loads in accordance with the works instructions.
3. Programming furnace controllers to process material to meet customer objectives.
4. Loading and unloading furnaces with charging machines.
5. Identification of material pre and post heat treatment.
6. Packing customer's goods following processing.
Skills Required
This position entails working on a rotating shift pattern. Whilst full training on our equipment will be given to the successful candidate, heat treatment or general steel works manufacturing and processing experience is preferred. Up to date or expired FLT and Overhead crane licences would be ideal. We can provide novice and refresher courses to the right candidate.
Salary: Negotiable, overtime rates paid at time and a third in the week, 'a half' on Saturdays and double time for Sundays, plus a company contribution pension scheme. There will be the opportunity to increase earnings by extending individual skill sets of which weekly bonuses will be paid as you progress.
