* Report to the Head of Health and Safety and will be responsible for providing occupational health and safety guidance to all levels of staff, supporting and advising all management teams, employees, volunteers, and contractors in Scotland.
* To improve performance through the implementation of health and safety management systems and other current standards and legislation.
* To support the delivery of health and safety and identify and pursue significant issues.
Key activities:
* Support Head of Health and Safety and the health and safety leadership programme across the organisation with the support of staff and other stakeholders.
* Provide effective health and safety advice and support the appropriate workplace wellbeing programmes for colleagues and other stakeholders.
* Support the review and development of all aspects of the health, safety and wellbeing policies and ensure that they are implemented consistently across the organisation.
* Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new, and upcoming health and safety legislation and provide support to Head of Health and Safety to ensure that the Group has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance and other requirements.
* Maintain a relationship with regulatory bodies (HSE and SEPA) to ensure compliance with all UK legislation and guidance. This includes ensuring the organisation is aligned with the current Control of Major Hazard Regulations.
* Work proactively with managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of health, safety, and wellbeing within their areas of responsibility.
* Work closely with all Operations Managers and departments to ensure compliance requirements are being controlled, documented and maintained in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
* Ensure that rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems are in place and followed across the organisation.
* Liaise with the People Team on health and wellbeing issues particularly where a risk assessment has identified a need, including supporting People Partners and line managers in carrying out individual risk assessments when required.
* Oversee and undertake audits, Local Health and Safety Committees and incident investigations and ensure an action plan is established to address issues identified.
* Work closely with the Health and Safety team by sharing knowledge and skills to maintain the health and safety management system.
NEBOSH Certificate or Graduate in Health and Safety / Diploma / Degree or equivalent qualification
* Minimum 5 Years experience in a similar role
* Knowledge of CoMAH Regulations and experience of their application
* Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner (Preferable).
* Effective delivery of IOSH Training (Managing and Working Safely)
* Driving Licence, This will be a highly visible and demanding role, requiring excellent skills to work effectively with others and resilience, assertiveness and clear communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have experience of a similar working environment. It is essential that you demonstrate a clear understanding of the value and principles of effective health and safety management, excellent communication skills, an aptitude for investigation and the tenacity to implement new processes and to see a project through. You should also demonstrate effective organisational abilities and have a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word is essential.

Based at our Logistics division head office in Newhouse, your remit will cover all our Logistics operations in Scotland, largely located across the Central Belt and Fife. You will successfully support the Head of Health and Safety and the safety team and partner all colleagues to ensure the organisation has the correct systems in place to maintain and develop the health and safety management system across Logistics.
The hours of work will be full time based over Monday to Friday. Reasonable flexibility is expected in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak operational periods.
