Job Description: Retail Manager – Stanningley Shop
Rate of Pay: £28,500
Purpose of the Role & Job Brief
The role of Retail Manager is to lead the existing team at our Stanningley (Leeds) shop in providing high-quality fresh meat products to retail standards.
The Retail Manager will be responsible for the operation and management of all aspects of butchery, including product selection, ordering, preparation, display, packaging, and sales of fresh meats to its customers.
The successful candidate will also oversee the Butchers Shop and will be competent in preparing fresh meat for sale. You will be able to advise customers on suitable cuts to meet their requirements. If you are a skilled Butcher, have leadership skills and a thirst for success then we could be the right company for you. A proven track record of a similar position and previous experience working in the industry is essential.
Responsibilities
The Retail Manager duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Leading an established retail team
2. Ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation
3. Motivating staff to achieve sales targets
4. Overseeing stock control
5. Product ordering / liaison with head office
6. Dealing with customers
7. Ensuring the safe & legal operation of the store, daily

Work Ethic
The role requires a strongly self-motivated individual with a reactive and ‘can do’ attitude, that has a strong desire to succeed and implements a positive work ethic. A degree of ‘thinking outside the box’ will be required, as well as a need to show leadership and discretion throughout.
Given the nature of the role, the successful individual will have the ability to work across all levels within the business, including company directors, external customers, and audit bodies.
Qualifications & Experience
• Previous butchery experience, preferably in a retail environment
• Full training on internal systems and procedures will be given to the right individual
Hours of Work:
Usually Monday to Sunday (5 days out of 7) 07:00 to 16:30. Bank Holidays are a normal working day due to the nature of the business. A day in lieu will be given for working bank holidays.
Additional information
Overtime may be required, within reason due to the nature of the business operations.
