Are you ready to play a pivotal role in the safe and efficient operation of one of Europe’s busiest motorways?
Balfour Beatty, in partnership with Atkins and Egis as Connect Plus Services (CPS), is seeking a Control Room Operator to join our dedicated team managing the M25 London Orbital Motorway.
At CPS, we are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the M25, investing over £100 million annually in infrastructure improvements and maintenance.
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of real-time incident management, ensuring the safety and performance of the strategic road network .
What you'll be doing
Some key responsibilities will be:
* Coordinating incident response and deploying resources efficiently in compliance with company policies and contractual obligations.
* Monitoring CCTV, tunnels, and bridge safety systems to ensure immediate and appropriate responses to alerts.
* Accurately receiving and disseminating information to enhance safety and optimise incident resolution.
* Maintaining real-time records of network activity using bespoke databases.
* Keeping key stakeholders updated on critical incidents via escalation platforms.
* Implementing the Severe Weather Plan and ensuring compliance with operational procedures and performance standards.
* Collaborating with National Highways, regional operation centres, and emergency services to ensure effective incident management.
Who we're looking for
We are seeking candidates with:
* Experience in an operational control room, emergency services, or a National Highways environment.
* A background in time-critical deployment of resources in a performance-driven setting.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assess information quickly to determine the best course of action.
* The ability to work efficiently under pressure, prioritising multiple incidents simultaneously.
* High-level competence in operating and interrogating database systems.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Familiarity with incident management, escalation processes, and transport network operations.
* An understanding of the commercial impact of operational decisions.
* Previous experience working rotational 24/7 shifts.
