Overview:
To be responsible for the management, development and delivery of Early Years services in a variety of settings; (crèche and/or the SureStart Developmental Programme for 2 – 3 Year Olds if required). Ensuring that there is a safe, caring and welcome environment for children and their families.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To deliver & manage the Early Years services including crèche and/or the Developmental Programme for 2 -3 Year Olds (if required) within a safe, secure and healthy environment.
2. To provide care which meets the individual needs of children and ensures their overall safety and well-being.
3. To plan and manage the implementation of a daily routine which addresses the individual needs of children, using a variety of play and learning opportunities.
4. To manage a staff team and be proactive in promoting a positive team spirit, encouraging staff members to work as part of a team.
5. Supervise staff members, arrange and chair team meetings on a regular basis. To attend and facilitate appraisals as required.
6. Offer support and supervision to students and volunteers placed in designated settings.
7. To ensure the Policies and Procedures of Shantallow Community Support Partnership and Resource Centre Derry as relevant are implemented and adhered to.
8. Maintain up to date and accurate records including; Register of Attendance, Accident book, daily plans, observation records, files on children, Risk Assessments of the setting and other records as required.
9. Provide written reports including Social Services case reviews, evaluation and Transition Forms to other agencies, Early Years Co-ordinator and the Board of Shantallow Community Support Partnership as required.
10. To manage a service which works in partnership with parents/carers ensuring a welcoming environment that supports their role and understanding of the care and education of their child(ren) including those with additional needs.
11. To actively manage and support staff in the preparation of children’s records and reviews for parents.
12. Assist in the allocation of places in Early Years Services including the Developmental Programme for 2 – 3 Year Olds and the management of waiting lists as required.
13. To plan and deliver the parental involvement aspect of the programme.
14. To plan and carry out home visits to families as required.
15. Liaise with other professionals including those within the SureStart team and those from external organisations, including the statutory, voluntary and community sector.
16. Maintain confidentiality regarding information about parents and children using services.
17. Participate in relevant training opportunities including Safeguarding, First Aid and Food Safety and the training in the Developmental Programme for 2 -3 Year Olds, and personal development, as identified with Line Manager and as required and in order to maintain a high quality service.
18. To work within the line management system to address concerns relating to service provision and practice.
19. To assist with transport of children in the bus as required.
20. Carry out any other duties as deemed necessary within the scope of the position.
