Physiotherapy Assistant - Veronica House
Job Purpose:
* To support the Manager in aspects of appropriate service provision- ensuring policies and procedures, codes of conduct and practice, and all relevant legislation are adhered to.
* To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate resident physiotherapy care in order to maintain or improve current physical abilities whilst promoting the resident’s privacy, dignity, independence and choice.
* To liaise with outside agencies to ensure that the resident receives the best available treatment and input relative to their needs.
Care Management:
* To maintain a high standard of care and ensure a positive environment and atmosphere are promoted within the Home at all times.
* To be responsible for ensuring each resident has an on-going assessment of their physical abilities with an agreed plan formulated detailing identified goals, interventions required and associated risks involved.
* Evaluation and review of exercise plans are to be performed in line with company policy, with adjustments made as necessary to reflect any changes in the resident’s condition and needs.
* Ensure that on admission you assist the Physiotherapist to assess resident’s moving and handling requirements and equipment - all the information must be cascaded to all staff.
* To ensure that documentation is maintained - taking into account accuracy, legibility and legality.
* To ensure the correct ordering, administration, recording and storage of all equipment, maintaining accurate and up to date records.
* To ensure good relations with the Registered Nurses, care, domestic and catering teams are maintained- liaising with all teams as appropriate when changes to the resident’s plans are required- ie medication review, splint changes etc.
* Ensure any concerns regarding the resident’s condition is discussed with the Registered nurse and appropriate advice and guidance sought.
* To support the Nurses in their role- ensuring the resident’s needs are met.
* To liaise with outside agencies and visiting professionals- ie Wheelchair services, SALT etc in order to ensure the highest standards of support are delivered to the resident throughout all stages of their illness.
* To promote and maintain the dignity, independence, privacy and confidentiality of all persons associated with Leabrook/ Veronica House to the highest standards at all times.
* To report any issues of concern regarding the residents, visitors and staff as soon as practicable to the Management Team whether it is minor or serious. To report all clinical and non-clinical accidents or incidents promptly and to co-operate with any investigation.
* To report any problems immediately for the safety of all.
* To attend regular Staff Appraisals and Return to Work Interviews.
* To strive at all times to further improve the delivery of care and to meet and exceed the standards as prescribed by C.Q.C.
* To undertake other duties as necessary.
Management Role:
* Ensure that when necessary, the Homes Disciplinary procedures are followed until such time that the Manager or Deputy Manager is available to deal with the situation.
* To ensure that the correct accident and incident procedures are followed in accordance with the Homes policies and procedures, and legislative requirements.
* To uphold and enforce all policies and procedures of Leabrook/Veronica House.
* To liaise and communicate effectively with visiting professionals for the benefit of the residents.
Training and Development:
* To undergo mandatory training and other training as directed for the betterment of the Home and its residents.
* To ensure staff partake in appropriate training, offering support and encouragement where necessary.
* To attend and participate in all appropriate meetings eg. Staff and Residents meetings.
* To ensure good relations and effective communication with relatives and other visitors.
* Identify areas where training may be of benefit for the improvement of knowledge and skills for the care team as a whole.
General:
* To participate in the sales and marketing of the home- ensure potential residents and the advocates/ relatives are provided with accurate and up to date information regarding the Home and what we have to offer.
* Ensure the safety and security of all those within the home at all times.
* Maintain open and effective communications with other professionals visiting the Home.
* Ensure that you continue to comply with all statutory requirement and legislation- ie Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, Environmental Health etc.
* Ensure Warm Water Therapy records including those relating to the chemical checks are accurate and correctly reflect any actions taken and the results of those actions.
* Ensure outside professionals are contacted regarding any issues relating to the Pools, if they are unable to be resolved in-house, ie- leaking boiler, deranged chemical levels, broken lights etc.
