Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Planning Manager to join our Planning team where you'll be responsible for managing the operational plans for the business. This role will be based at our Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham site. The Role: The planning manager is responsible for making complex decisions on business issues considering customer service, quality, manufacturing, and operational requirements. You will also manage a team responsible for creating and maintaining the schedules. As well as this you will lead the operations planning function using key KPIs and reports to monitor key business objectives. Additional responsibilities include: Managing the master schedulers workloads and support them with key business decisions affecting the operational plans. Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand capacity constraints, material availabilities, reduce lead times, and exceed customer expectations Resolve conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability Develop planning KPIs to highlight constraints and potential continuous improvement activities Report key KPIs to the wider business with a high level of accuracy and lead discussions on improvement. Support customer service with key delivery dates for customers, ensuring the plan reflects customers’ needs and highlights risks. Work with the SIOP team to understand constraints that may affect the operational plan Create reports on labour utilisation and provide capacity plans as necessary for resource requirements in conjunction with the SIOP team Lead conformance to plan, highlight key risk areas and work with all stakeholders to improve and maintain a satisfactory percentage. Continually look for ways to improve processes within Planning; provide recommendations for process improvement across department that support operational goals for customer service, quality, reduction in cost and innovation Leadership and line management responsibility for assigned employee including appraisal, sickness absence and performance management Task allocation and delegation of responsibilities as appropriate. To be successful in this role you'll need to have: Qualifications – Undergraduate degree (or equivalent academic/vocational level –) in a business discipline. Or relevant business experience. Minimum 3 years’ experience with planning production in a diverse discreet manufacturing environment Minimum 3 years’ experience with automated master production scheduling, capacity management and shop floor applications. (Visual ERP experience desirable) Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Capable of being a self-starter with a minimal amount of direct supervision Must be proficient in MRP, Master Production Scheduling systems, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word Possess a thorough understanding of forecasting and master production scheduling principals in both make-to-stock and make-to-order environments Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise a varied workload to achieve results. Identifies problems and takes appropriate action based on evaluation of all possible options Initiates supports or responds to change by continually striving to improve processes or performance consistent with the needs of the business Works effectively with others throughout the Company towards the attainment of Company goals Considers the financial and commercial implications when taking action/making decisions Responds positively to changing situations/priorities to achieve Company objectives.
