We are delighted to be looking for a Deputy CEO to join our clients fantastic and passionate team based in Salisbury.
The Role
General Management Responsibilities:
* Provide proactive support and capacity to fully support the CEO of the Charities. Assist the CEO in the development of strategy across all areas of the Charities.
* Deputise in the absence of the CEO and be on-call outside normal working hours in an emergency.
* Ensure best practices for office staff, monitoring and implementing workflows for optimum efficiency, cost-effectiveness and staff development & training, whilst ensuring equality, diversity, inclusion and employee well-being.
* Ensure governance and compliance with the legal and guidance requirements of all current applicable law and UK Accounting Practices and such other regulatory institutions including HMRC, the Charity Commission.
* Oversee and manage the work of the Accounts Manager with ultimate responsibility for all day-to-day financial transactions. This includes review of purchase ledger, all income streams, operation of the Charities' PAYE payroll, pensions, cash and bank reconciliations, journals, payments approval, restricted funds and the Charities' investments portfolio.
* Prepare, with the Accounts Manager, quarterly management reports to monitor and understand budget and expenditure variances.
* Assist the CEO in the preparation of the annual budget prior to submission to the Main Board for approval. Assist with the preparation of proposals for major developments, improvements and repairs to property.
* Attend the Finance and General Purposes Committee quarterly meetings and all Ordinary board meetings.
* Provide information to and liaise with as required the Charities' Auditors.
* Ensure accounting, payroll and bookkeeping systems and procedures are maintained and regularly reviewed to keep software packages and reporting requirements up to date.
Day to Day Administration:
* Prepare regular reports for submission to the Board of Trustees identifying expenditure on extraordinary, cyclical plus routine maintenance and repair.
* Work with the Charities' Buildings Maintenance Officer to ensure that the system of reporting and rectifying defects is operating efficiently.
* Manage and monitor (including negotiating contract renewals) the Charities’ major utility and maintenance contracts for all applicable sites and properties.
* Manage and monitor the Charities' Fixed Assets Register and arrange for replacement items as required.
* Provide regular or ad hoc financial and management information as required, whilst seeking to identify areas or procedures which may benefit from review.
* Manage the Charities' office IT systems, telephony and networks in conjunction with the Charities' appointed computer services support company.
* Assist with recruitment and training of staff.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Will have experience of working within the charity sector.
* Experience of overseeing a Finance team.
* And most of all enjoy working as part of a team that pulls together to get things done.
This is a full-time on site role working Monday to Friday, offering a salary circa £55,000 – £58,000 (dependant on skills and experience).
