Surface Access is crucial for Heathrow’s growth and meeting its sustainability goals, particularly in carbon reduction, air quality, colleague travel, and increasing public transport use.
The Sustainable Travel Manager aids the Surface Access team by developing strategies and initiatives to meet public transport targets set in Heathrow 2.0. The role involves engaging stakeholders and Team Heathrow to reach surface access goals and analysing data to identify effective interventions for promoting sustainable travel. Additionally, it supports the Route Development Lead in improving bus and coach services to Heathrow, enhances the active travel network, car share schemes, and cycle hub, and contributes to long-term strategy development.
1. Developing the Colleague Surface Access Strategy by synthesize data and analytical models and provide technical support to strategy development.
2. Delivering the Colleague Surface Access Strategy and project manage and coordination of the initiatives that comprise the colleague travel strategy and manage the schemes and the suppliers.
3. Managing Stakeholder and Team Heathrow engagement to achieve colleague surface access targets and aspirations such as engagement with bus and coach operators to improve services to Heathrow
4. Collaborate and communicate sustainable travel initiatives to increase awareness through a range of platforms, including leading the Way2Go roadshow programme.
5. Educated to degree level or equivalent essential with further post graduate qualifications desirable.
6. Ability to develop work programmes and deliver behavioural change initiatives
7. Ability to deliver high quality projects on time, on budget with a high level of project management skills
8. Ability to manage third party suppliers and consultants that support delivery activities and to derive value for money with any commission
9. Ability to manage stakeholders, individuals and work as part of a team, being proactive in a demanding work environment, with the ability to work on several different projects at any given time
Ideally you will have:
10. Experience in transport planning with prior experience of a regulated business environment
11. Travel management experience and experience in major behaviour change programmes
