Job Title: Front of House Location: The Sober Parrot/Clean Plate – Cheltenham/Gloucester Reports to: Café Manager Benefits: Real Living Wage - £12.60 per hour Hours: Zero hours contract - to include weekends and occasional evening events Pension: Auto Enrolment pension in force (6% employer contribution) The Sober Parrot is an alcohol-free innovative community enterprise café. We emphasise health and wellbeing, using fresh, local produce wherever possible. We provide opportunities for the recovery community to train in catering and hospitality in a working environment. We are seeking dynamic individuals who are passionate about hospitality and eager to contribute to our vibrant café and events team. While previous experience in front-of-house hospitality or as a barista is ideal, it is not required as we provide full training. Your role will involve making a variety of coffees, hot and cold drinks, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the café. You will ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Health and Safety procedures and support our volunteers in their personal development. Key Tasks: Making hot/cold drinks to order as per the specification Following the direction of the line manager during every shift Delivering excellent customer service and food and drink quality; being a lead for others to follow Ensuring all areas of catering and front of house are compliant with Health and Safety requirements, including food safety, COSHH, and all risk assessments Assisting with the training of volunteers in the process of daily operations in the café, customer service, and barista training Involvement in daily food prep and assisting the café manager with various tasks Assisting with the upkeep of the cleanliness of the café and kitchen, including deep cleaning and dishwashing Supporting the café manager in delivering events held in the café Ensuring the café develops and operates in ways consistent with the brand architecture Maintaining a proactive relationship with customers, volunteers, trainees, and members of the recovery community to promote The Hub as a welcoming and supportive environment for people in recovery from addiction. General: Adhering to the terms and conditions of employment agreed with The Nelson Trust, working within the general operational policies of the organisation Being responsible for your own safety and others affected by your activities and ensuring adherence to the Nelson Trust policies and procedures regarding Health & Safety Participating in the overall development of the project Undertaking any additional duties as may be reasonably expected from you as directed by line management Attending training and development sessions as relevant and as provided Acting in a manner that upholds the good reputation of the Nelson Trust and accords with generally accepted professional conduct.
