Hours of Work: 35 Hours Per Week
Job Purpose
To be part of a team offering a comprehensive residential service to children and young people, ensuring their physical, social, and emotional care and development. You will provide a healthy menu and meet dietary needs of young people, working in collaboration with Residential Staff, by:
Cooking
1. Ensuring that you remain within the budgets set for provisions when buying in the shopping for the Centre.
2. Preparing and cooking a selection of healthy meals on a daily basis.
3. Meeting dietary needs of young people on an individual basis.
4. Building and maintaining positive relationships with young people.
5. Recording food temperatures on relevant log sheets.
6. Preparing buffets/meals etc. at short notice for visitors (social workers/Local Authorities/Families).
7. Preparing a range of home baking.
Cleaning
1. Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness throughout the Centre, including the kitchen at all times.
2. Liaising with management and staff regarding daily chores requiring completion.
3. Ensuring any hazardous material is locked away when not in use.
4. Ensuring all toilet facilities are cleaned to a high standard, with adequate soap, toilet rolls, and hand towels.
5. Reporting any maintenance issues to your line manager in a timely manner.
6. Carrying out deep cleans in the building as required or requested by your line manager.
You will ideally have:
1. Previous experience within a culinary role.
2. Good communication skills with colleagues and young people.
3. The ability to work as part of a team.
4. A flexible approach to work.
5. Good organisational skills.
6. Knowledge of health and safety requirements surrounding the cooking and preparation of food.
7. Food hygiene knowledge.
