Average of 7 x 24 hours respites per year,
starting before or after lunchtime
(plenty advance notice would be given)
Also, if possible, availability to cover current carers' a/l - s/l, this would be for 4 hours per week on a relief basis 6pm – 10pm currently a Tuesday, but can be flexible.
Your role will be to support our son within the family home and in the community for an average of 7 x 24 hour periods. To assist him at meal times, administer his medication, and see to his personal care, bath or wash & dress. Our son does use a wheelchair. He enjoys going for walks with carers, out in his mobility vehicle (auto) for a run, going bowling, and visiting Tesco for a cuppa. He would enjoy going to the park, feeding the ducks, and people watching, etc. He is a very laid-back young man who likes to ‘go with the flow’.
Your role will be to encourage him to be as independent as possible and to develop his skills. Encourage socializing in the community, continue with current activities, and in time develop new interests. This will allow us (Mum & Dad) to spend some respite time together and know that our son is being well cared for and kept safe at all times.
