Locum Consultant in Acute Internal Medicine

The post holder will be part of a growing leadership team which we are developing to reinvigorate our Acute Medicine and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) services. The post holder will join a supportive team which has a strong culture of teaching and training. Additionally, the Hillingdon AMU has just come top in the country for junior doctor feedback in the latest GMC Survey, which is reflective of the progressive style the team are creating. This post will work across Acute Internal Medicine, with a focus on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), SDEC and links with our emergency medicine department. The post is advertised as 10 PAs, with a possibility of additional PAs in discussion with the Divisional Director for Unplanned Care. Further subspecialty interests including specialty clinics and service development will also be welcomed and accommodated within the job plan.
There will also be an opportunity for the desirable candidate to be supported with a CESR/portfolio pathway application towards the specialist register, which can be discussed further during the interview.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible to the Divisional Director of Unplanned Care at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 10 PA post, comprised of 8.5 PA DCC and 1.5 SPA. SPA may include clinical and educational supervision, audit, personal CPD, and mandatory training.
The post holder will be key to developing and leading changes to our services to better support inpatient care, patient flow, and early supportive discharges, with education and training. There will also be opportunities to be involved with audit and governance and development of SDEC pathways. All of these changes will be working towards our new hospital rebuild at Hillingdon Hospital.
Post holders will participate in the medical on-call (acute take) rota (approximately 1:18).
The post holder will, together with his or her consultant colleagues and other health care professionals in the Directorate, provide an effective and comprehensive service in developing the medical SDEC/ambulatory care services on the ambulatory medical unit, working closely with ED and surgical colleagues. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to support quality improvement and service development in the department.

Person Specification
* Full GMC Registration with License to Practice
* MRCP or equivalent
* Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: a. Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b. Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) or application submitted and outcome expected within 6 months of the interview c. European Community Rights
* Ability to work with multidisciplinary groups
* Recent clinical experience in AIM
* Demonstrable commitment to teach, train and assess teaching of undergraduates, postgraduates, and nursing staff
* Proven teaching experience
