Responsibilities
The engineer will be required to deal with projects predominantly in the South East from concept/feasibility stage, through design and construction to commissioning and handover under the guidance of a director.
Skills that will be developed include but are not limited to the following:
* Lighting calculations
* Cable calculations
* Part L Compliance checking
* Detail development of concept designs to include equipment selection and specification etc
* Design and specification of renewable technologies
* Liaison with utility companies for new and diversion of existing services
* Liaison with architects, clients, structural engineers and contractors
* Project Management
* Site inspections
Criteria
* Reside locally to AL3 or able to relocate
* Own transport available + valid driver’s licence
Qualifications
* British citizen or otherwise working rights in UK
* Degree qualified in electrical engineering
* Experience: from graduate to any experience working as electrical (building services) design engineer (preferably in the UK)
* Preferential but not essential experience:
o Working knowledge of wiring regulations BS 7671
o Working knowledge of relevant British Standards
o Education, leisure, residential and mixed use sectors
o Familiarity with BREEAM, and implications for M&E design
o Revit MEP

* Salary negotiable to suit candidate

The Company employs circa 20 employees, and although a relatively small Company punches well above its weight in terms of projects undertaken. Project values have varied from £4million to £200million in terms of construction value. VZDV has won national and international awards for some of its projects and has established itself as a leader in low carbon and renewable technologies and low energy buildings. The candidate will report directly to the Director and will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills and ultimately manage their own projects, which will include managing a team of engineers, building physicists, and technicians.
