The purpose of the public transport function is to identify, support and develop public transportation services across Westmorland and Furness. Our responsibilities include planning and coordinating scheduled bus services and community transport options to meet local need, as well as engaging with Community Rail partnerships to address opportunities for improvements and to develop integrated transport solutions.
We collaborate with a range of partners and stakeholders including regional and national transport bodies and the Department for Transport to achieve these goals.
Our key objectives are to Promote Accessibility, Enhance Sustainability, Improve Integration and Efficiency.

Who we are looking for…
We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to join our team as apprentices. The ideal candidate will have a good standard of English, Maths, and ICT, and a strong willingness to learn and grow. This should include a minimum of 3 x A Levels (or equivalent Level 3 qualifications) and 5 x GCSE at Grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English Language. You should be a team player with excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills, as well as a keen eye for detail and a positive, flexible attitude. If you’re eager to develop new skills and take responsibility while working in a supportive environment, we would love to hear from you!
