Weare looking to recruit a ParentInfant Psychotherapist who is interested in working with mothers duringpregnancy, birth, and in the first two years of the mother/baby relationship, to promoteand provide interventions to support positive bonding and attachment.
All applicants musthave excellent clinical skills and confidence and enthusiasm for working withperinatal partner agencies in networks that extend beyond traditionalspecialist mental health boundaries.

Main duties of the job
Thepost holder will provide psychological assessments, formulations andinterventions for women andtheir babies experiencing complex mental health issues duringpregnancy and up to the baby being two years of age.
Any parent infant workundertaken is planned in the context of the multi-disciplinary provision, andperinatal network, and inclusive of the mother and baby wider comprehensiveneeds.
The post involves providing clinicalsupervision to multidisciplinary colleagues and requires excellentcommunication skills alongside competence in working with and managing risk inrelation to both mother and baby. It also provides an opportunity to offerconsultation within the service and to other professionals working within thePerinatal network.
TheService operates Mon-Fri 9am-5pm however successful applicantswould be expected to have the flexibility to work occasional extended hours tofacilitate service effectiveness. Car driver essential .

Job responsibilities
The post holder will work autonomously withinprofessional guidelines to provide Psychotherapy services to the Service. Aspart of the multi-disciplinary team and working in partnership with other leadagencies when appropriate, the post holder will be responsible for providinghighly specialist assessment of service users and the planning, implementationand evaluation of highly specialist psychotherapy.
The post holder will provide specialist advice andconsultation to NHS colleagues, referrers and other external agencies.
Workingautonomously as part of a multidisciplinary team, provide assessments and psychotherapyfor service users practicing at a high level of clinical expertise and withinrelevant Codes of Practice and drawing on a wide range of models andtechniques.
Toformulate a range of treatment options based on an appropriate conceptualframework. To identify priorities of action in complex circumstances. As partof this practice, there will be the need to identify risk and take appropriateaction.
Towork in ways which are sensitive to and appropriate for the needs of serviceusers from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds. Thisincludes abilities to understand and offer therapeutic interventions to serviceusers
Toprovide psychotherapy as an autonomous clinician, drawing on a range of modelsand techniques when required. To beresponsible for implementing a range of psychotherapeutic interventions for serviceusers, adjusting and refining formulations drawing upon different explanatorymodels and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
Toevaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account highlycomplex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that haveshaped the patient and their difficulties.
To ensure that appropriate feedback on caseload isprovided to relevant stakeholders, and that feedback from service users isutilised to enhance and develop service delivery. To be responsible forattending CPA meetings and reviews where appropriate.
To exercise autonomous professional responsibilityfor the assessment, treatment and discharge of patients as appropriate.Responsible for ensuring that referrals and discharges are made in accordancewith relevant policy and procedures and the principles of good practice.Include elements of risk assessment in all work.
To assist the Clinical Lead and Service Manager in the on-going development andprovision of Psychotherapy Services, promoting a high level of clinicalpractice to ensure a needs-led service.
To facilitate other team members work with serviceusers through joint work and supervision.
Tomanage complex clinical planning, and provide specialist consultation, adviceand guidance to other professionals. The post holder will attend training and monthly supervision for theirclinical work and will be expected to contribute to the supervision of others.This will include liaison and working with professional networks involved withhighly complex, emotive and often conflict issues.
To maintain high standards of clinical recordkeeping and to adhere to policies and procedures as defined by the Trust and OtherStatutory Bodies and to adhere to professional ethical standards and codes ofpractice of professional bodies and UKCP or HCPC. To provide comprehensivereports as required.
Demonstrateawareness of research and its application to clinical practice.
