Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is looking for an Operating Shift Manager to be based at Rocksavage, Runcorn.
Main Purpose
To provide relief cover for the OSM team who play a key role in the site management team by providing 24/7 management support to the shift teams on site and continuity for manufacturing activities and shift workers outside normal working hours. The shift manager is also responsible for coordinating all on-site emergency response situations liaising and coordinating with the site shift managers and other key stakeholders.
The Operating Shift Manager is a day role, working Mon-Fri but the role is required to be flexible and be prepared to cover the shift pattern (2 x 12 hours days followed by 2 x 12 hours nights and 8 days off) when required.
Main Responsibilities
* Oversee production operations on the assigned shift to meet Sales and Operating Plan requirements providing direct support and troubleshooting when required, enabling site logistics activities and escalating issues to Operating Plant Manager/s as necessary.
* Deputize for the Operating Plant Managers or OSMs in their absence, as required.
* Comply with the Safe Systems Of Work on site to support and enable maintenance and project work to be delivered across the site and proactively audit and improve site performance in all SHE related matters.
* Lead incident investigations and reporting to aid the Production management team and the business.
* Incident controller for local incident and technical advisor for incidents involving site emergency services as per site procedures.
* Monitoring and management of DCS, alarm and safety instrumented / protective systems, as per site procedure/s.
* Site responsible manager and indirect line management responsibility for all operating / shift teams outside normal working hours. Provide leadership to coaching to the shift teams, support and monitor changes to shift patterns, update timesheets and oversee the Shift Fatigue and Risk processes.
* Lead and deliver assigned projects and improvement activities as requested by site and the production management teams. Support the Continuous Improvement culture by proactively identifying, reporting and delivering improvements across site.
* Managing external (public or other site users) complaints. Update records and metrics as requested by management and issue out critical communications to shift teams to ensure alignment and engagement in the teams.
* Supporting Overhaul, Task Event and Projects – responsible for planning, implementing safe systems of work and supervising a team or teams of plant and/or maintenance and/or contract support personnel to complete the work as required.
Qualifications
* Minimum: L2 C&G Process Technology, HNC or similar technical qualification or new L3 Science Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Standard and Team Leader, Supervisor Apprenticeship Standard (including CML L3 Diploma in Management) or similar management qualification.
* HNC/HND/NVQ Level 5 would be desirable.
* NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications would be advantageous.
Knowledge/ Experience Required
* 4 to 5 years’ experience in continuous chemical process operations ideally at a supervisory level incorporating:
* Experience of working and ideally supervision of continuous shift patterns preferably on a Top Tier COMAH site.
* Experience of controlling and monitoring processes and unit operations using control systems e.g. DCS, PLC (ideally those operated on the site and associated with Major Accident Hazard and/or Major Accident to the Environment risks).
* Experience of using and applying safe systems of work.
* Experience in handling, storage and transportation of chemicals including utilities.
* Experience in using IT systems (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Office, PIMS, Delta V etc.).
* Experience in working continuous shift work patterns and ideally supervision.
* Experience of planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance in terms of work planning and safe implementation.
* Experience of incident and emergency response including procedures.
* Knowledge of incident and emergency response including procedures.
* Knowledge of incident investigation/Root Cause Analysis.
