As a vital part of SPEN, the Senior Resourcing Support Engineer supports trainees through a range of technical training, supports Learning and Development on an operational engineering-based programme and ensures training satisfies quality and safety standards.
What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Resourcing Support Engineer, you will:
* Proactively support engineering trainees through their operational engineering programmes in place and ensure delivery in conjunction with Business requirements. Programmes may include: Power Engineering Apprentices, Trainee Engineers, Operational trainee Engineers and Engineering Graduates.
* Develop and maintain the documented skills, knowledge and objectives for these programmes.
* Proactively plan and liaise with key stakeholders in the different departments to identify and understand priorities to develop training and development plans.
* Liaise with allocated business functions to ensure any new skill requirements arising out of changes to the network or the introduction of new equipment and technology are mapped out to provide cost effective training solutions.
* Carry out regular technical reviews for all operational engineering Trainees to ensure they are developing as planned and undertake activities as appropriate to support the development of their engineering skills and understanding of company procedures and specifications.
* Provide support in relation to all technical training needs analysis; development of training plans, training delivery (for an agreed number of days per year) and evaluation and assessment reports for internal and external customers to ensure technical training requirements remain fit for purpose.
* Support the design, development, and delivery of operational safety programmes to meet the stringent requirement of each individual Business and Health & Safety legislation. Review existing programmes and make recommendations in line with industry practice.
* Promote and support a learning environment to ensure the effective utilisation of the varied training/learning solutions available, such as traditional classroom, e-learning, project work, distance learning, etc.
* Develop and maintain customer relations with other departments and service providers within Energy Networks and ScottishPower to assist in delivery of overall objectives.
* Support the EN Resourcing team in the preparation of budgetary requirements.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for an individual who has strong interpersonal skills and can coach and mentor others. They will have strong communication skills at all levels and will be able to self-motivate whilst inspiring others to reach their full potential.
To be successful, as a minimum you will have:
* Relevant HNC or equivalent (i.e. City & Guilds) qualification.
* Experience as a Senior Authorised Person within a utility business.
* Working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and compliance.
* An effective and confident written and verbal communicator.
* Computer literacy – e.g. Microsoft Office suite.
